Seasonal Songs:
Stories from Kingnui Village
Legends, Tales and Collective Wisdom
Kingniu Village is a remote hilltop village, in a remote district, in the remote state of Nagaland in India. Near the Burmese border and only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles, the villagers here have to be self-reliant and self-sufficient, relying on traditions and wisdom passed down from generation to generation.
Restless Rogue Press is partnering with the Chingthur Foundation to collect and publish a sample of the stories from this village. Proceeds from the sales of the book will go toward an education fund to provide needed resources for the village's primary school and to offer scholarships to send children to middle school, high school and university.

A Remote Village in a Remote District in a Remote Indian State

Commercial center of the state. Only town in mountainous Nagaland with an airport and railroad access.
State capitol and political center of Nagaland
Nagaland is one of only 3 states which are majority Christian (90%) with around 75% of the state's population being Baptist.
The village has a lot of land around it to cultivate, a testament to their fierce forefathers who protected their land. Headhunting in Nagaland was outlawed in 1965.
Like nearly all Naga villages now, the church is at the center of community life.
In the winter of 2023 the leaders of Chingthur Foundation brought Rehana Rehman from Action Aid Association India to Kingniu Village to share their vision to help the village.
